Mysuru lad Suraj R. Prabodh entered the main draw in the $15000 Kolkata ITF Futures Men’s Tennis Tournament played at Calcutta South Club courts yesterday by winning his final qualifying round tie against Chandril Sood 6-1, 6-3.

Earlier in the first qualifying round, Suraj had beaten C. Tarun Anirudh 6-1, 6-0 to progress further. Another Mysuru lad Vasisht Cheruku went down to Bharath Nishok Kumar 6-3, 3-6, 12-14 in the final qualifying round. In the first round, Vashist beat Tushar Madan 6-0, 6-2 to progress further.

In the Men’s Singles main draw, Aryan Goveas, seeded seventh, beat Mysuru’s S.D. Prajwal Dev 6-4, 7-6 (4) to enter the pre-quarter-finals.

In the first round, Suraj Prabodh will meet Bharath Nishok Kumar today.
