Chamarajanagar: Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said the Government received information about the Hanur forest shoot-out and ordered a magisterial inquiry to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.

“I received all the information about the Forest Department personnel conducting an encounter with those who had gone to hunt animals. We have also ordered a magisterial inquiry. The facts will come out,” Shivakumar said.

He said some documents and other materials, including guns, had been seized in connection with the incident.

Following the CM’s order, the Chamarajanagar District Administration has ordered a magisterial-level inquiry. The Deputy Commissioner has directed that the investigation be completed within seven days and a detailed report submitted.

Kollegal Assistant Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Meena has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer. The inquiry will examine the circumstances under which the Forest personnel opened fire, the allegations raised by relatives of the deceased and the subsequent unrest, including protests, road blockades and attacks on Forest Department offices.
