Mysore Zone with some excellent performances by Dhanush Gowda (five for 23 , 23 & 25 n.o), K.Kethan (69) and Akhil Kashyap (62) secured the vital first innings lead of 51-runs against Combined City XI in the two-day Group ‘B’ league tie played at Rajarajeshwari Medical College Grounds on Thursday.
Batting first, Mysore Zone scored 219 in 75.5 overs. Akhil Kashyap (62), K.Kethan (69), S. Dhanush Gowda (22) and S.Ishaan (21) were the scorers. Medium-pacers Sufiyaan Shariff (four for 51) and Rhitankar Basak (for for 32) were the wicket-takers for Combined City XI.
Combined City XI after being 91 for one at the close of play on day one were bowled out for 168 in 58.2 overs by Mysore zone bowlers. Leg-spinner S. Dhanush Gowda impressed by taking five wickets for 23 runs. He was well supported by medium-pacer Adarsh G. Puthraya who took three for 31.
Mysore Zone gained vital first innings lead of 51-runs. In the second innings, Mysore Zone scored 227 for nine in 64 overs, before play was called off. The match ended in a draw with Mysore Zone gaining three points for the first innings lead and Combined City Xi secured one point.
For Mysore Zone, Prajwal (21), skipper G. Rohit Gautham (56), M.S. Yashwanth (40) and S. Dhanush Gowda (25 n.o) were the scorers.
Rohit Iyengar too three for 24, while Arya Mudu (two for 33) and M.B. Shivam (two for 41) were also amongst the wickets.
