Leg- spinner Aryav Hegde with figures of four for 37 bowled well and well-supported by medium-pacer Manvanth Kumar (3 for 24), helped Mysuru Zone to bowl out Bangalore City to 137 in 53 overs on the opening day of the two-day Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Inter-Zonal U-16 Tournament tie played at BGS Grounds in Bengaluru yesterday.
Put into bat, Bangalore City were bowled out for 137 in 53 overs. Shubham Biswas top scored with 39 runs. Useful contributions came from M. Arsalaan (26) and Arnav Sajan (23). Leg-spinner Aryav Hegde (four for 37), medium-pacer Manvanth Kumar (three for 24) and leg-spinner and captain Abhay Rangan (two for 16) were the wicket-takers.
An interesting day’s play is in the offing today with both the teams vying for top honours.
President’s XI take first innings points
In the previous tie, the match between President’s XI and Mysuru Zone ended in a draw at RSI Grounds. Batting first, Mysuru Zone were dismissed for 101 in 47.5 overs. In reply, President’s XI scored 266 for six decl. in 79 overs.
Opener Rahul Prasanna carried his bat through to remain unbeaten on 154 (243b,24×4, 1×6). A. Yuvaraj (52), A. Satvik (28 n.o) and C. Prakar (21) were the scorers.
In reply, Mysuru Zone in their second innings scored 158 for seven. Skipper and opening bat Abhay Rangan scored a well compiled 98 (123b, 18×4). President’s XI secured 3 points and Mysuru Zone one for the drawn encounter.
