July 27, 2019

Mysuru: “As the current unemployment crisis is worsening, the Open University is planning to implement a number of projects in order to facilitate creation of jobs,” said Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar.

He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) organised for the teaching faculty of KSOU recently.

“KSOU will revise its curriculum from 2020-21 by introducing CBCS. With this, University’s 17-year-old curriculum will be replaced with new one which will have skill-based content,” he added.

Introducing the new system, Dean (Education) Prof. Jagadish said that in accordance with UGC/NAAC orders, it is inevitable for KSOU to implement CBCS for its PG courses.

Former VC Prof. N.S. Ramegowda, who was the chief guest, agreed with the decision to implement CBCS in KSOU.

CBCS Nodal Officer Prof. M. Sridhar, KSOU Registrar Prof. B. Ramesh, UoM Bio-Chemistry Department’s Prof. Gopal Marathe and others participated and trained more than 80 lecturers.
