KSRTC to appoint 6,500 drivers and 300 technical staff

Bengaluru: To strengthen their staff in the wake of increasing fleet of buses, the four Transport Corporations of the State (KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC) will together appoint as many as 6,500 drivers and 300 technical staff soon.

The Transport Corporations had sought nod of the State Government for appointment of 13,000 personnel in order to fill up vacancies arising out of retirement of staff and also to meet the demands of their expanded services. But the Finance Department has given the go ahead for appointment of 6,500 drivers and 300 technical staff in the first phase. Subsequently, the KSRTC plans to appoint 2,000 drivers-cum-conductors and 300 technical personnel.

The NWKRTC will appoint 2,000 drivers-cum-conductors and the BMTC will recruit 2,500 conductors, while the KKRTC has already started the process for recruitment of 1,619 drivers.

The appointment process will be completed in about three months, according to sources.
