Kudos to Fire Station staff for timely action

January 29, 2018

Sir,

On 26th January, around 7.30 pm, a heavy and dense smoke (see photo) had engulfed all around the area behind Civil Law Courts where I reside. I went around the Public Prosecutors’ Office to locate the source of the unusual thick smoke, but I could not spot the source.

I telephoned the Fire Station, Saraswathipuram, at around 7.50 pm and informed my observations. They promptly took down the necessary particulars and within 5 minutes the Fire Station vehicle reached the area.

After talking to me and the local people near Siddappaji temple Circle at Chamarajapuram Railway Station, they went around to locate the source of the smoke. I understand that inside the Court complex, next to the Court canteen, some waste material, which was dumped, had caught fire and burning, which was put out by the Fire Station staff. Thereafter the smoke subsided and I received a call from Mr.Devaraj (Fire Station staff) at around 8.45 pm to inform me what had happened and whether the smoke had subsided.

I thanked him and his staff for the quick and efficient action taken. If this action was not taken, fire could have spread and caused unimaginable damage. The residents of the area would have suffered the whole night because of the smoke.

Kudos to the quick response and excellent action taken by the Fire Station staff. At the same time, the staff concerned  too should exercise caution to prevent such occurrences in future, particularly in sensitive areas like the Court Complex. Public also should play their role in maintaining the status of the city under the Swachh Bharat initiative of our Prime Minister.
