Curiously, the very same day the Editorial on the status of Executive appeared in SOM dated June 14 (Burdensome babudom), I had an entirely different and a very pleasant experience with the RTO staff of Mysuru.
Two weeks back, I had visited their office at RTO Circle for renewal of my Driving License (DL), due to expire on June 19. Just as I had completed the initial formalities, I realised that I didn’t have the original DL and so couldn’t do the biometrics. On 14th, I went again, this time with the challan damaged unwittingly, which resulted in a computer glitch. The staff could not access my particulars. I had an urgency to leave the station that evening and had almost concluded that I might have to go through the entire rigmarole afresh. Yet, I called on the lady Superintendent and introduced myself as an Ex-Serviceman. She listened to my problems patiently, discussed with her staff, who were also very courteous.
To my surprise, the formalities were completed in a matter of less than half-an-hour, despite it being their lunch break. Kudos to Mysuru RTO.
