Sir,
This refers to the news item ‘Yuva Brigade leads Kapila River cleaning drive’ (Star of Mysore dated Dec. 9).
My salute to these young volunteers for their commendable work in cleaning the bathing ghat at the 16-pillared Mantap near the Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud.
By removing the piled-up garbage, they have made the ghat worthy for devotees to take a holy dip. Furthermore, the Brigade’s initiative in conducting the ‘Kapila Arathi’ on the evening of Dec. 13 (inspired by the Ganga Arathi of Prayagraj) was highly appreciable.
The event, which attracted thousands of pilgrims from far and wide, was indeed memorable. Needless to say, such gestures play a significant role in reviving and recalling our rich cultural legacy.
The Brigade’s positive attitude towards societal obligations is truly exemplary. It is hoped that the Temple administration undertakes such activities regularly on its own.
Alternatively, as a goodwill gesture, the administration could felicitate Yuva Brigade members during occasions like Girija Kalyana, the Car Festival, Shivarathri, Karthika Somavara, etc. This would not only acknowledge their efforts but also inspire them to undertake more such noble activities for the public cause.
