Kukkarahalli Lake to be shut for public after 6.30 pm

In the wake of gang rape of a girl student at the foot of Chamundi Hill recently, the University of Mysore (UoM) has ordered closure of Kukkarahalli Lake premises for public after 6.30 pm on all days.

In a circular issued on Friday, the UoM Registrar said that the security wing has been directed to deploy more security staff in the lake premises for carrying out regular rounds from 6 pm to 9 pm. The ban order for closure of the lake to students and the public after 6.30 pm has been issued following an oral instruction from the Police Department, considering the safety and security of students and citizens.
