Mysuru/Mysore: Kumaaravyasa, an integral part of Karnataka culture and a 15th century poet, will be remembered on Sunday, the 12th January. Parampare has organised the poet’s Jayanti from 9 am at Mysuru K. Vasudevacharya Bhavana (Nadabrahma Hall), JLB Road.
Different gamakis will perform kaavya-vaachana in the first hour. At 10 am, Prof. Krishnamurthy Hanoor will present a lecture-demonstration on “Kumaaravyaasa studies and Publication” where he is presenting contribution of different scholars who have contributed to the study of Kumaaravyaasa. He will trace the publication of the book from 1850. It will be a good survey on Kumaaravyasa.
At 11 am, a Nrutya Roopaka titled “Kumaaravyaasana Srikrishna” will be presented by noted danseuse of Mysuru Vidushi Dr. Kripa Phadke. The roopaka is scripted by Dr. Jyothi Shankar, Assistant Professor of Kannada in Karnataka State Open University. This is an earnest attempt to present Kaavya using dance as a medium.
A similar nrutya roopaka titled “Kumaaravyaasana Kshaatra Droupadi” also scripted by Dr. Jyothi Shankar was presented some time back by renowned artiste Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy. Dr. Vasundhara presented this roopaka in many countries all over the world. Thus, Parampare is proud of taking Kumaaravyasa to international stage.
