Mysuru: The Mysuru City Police have formally arrested six persons, including the wife of Nithyananda, a private company employee, in connection with his murder at Kuvempunagar. All the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.

The arrested have been identified as S. Susheela (40), wife of the deceased and a private school teacher; V. Harish (32) of K.R. Nagar; Ranganath (42) of Thirumanahalli in Mulbagal, Kolar; M. Chandan (23) of Doddakari village in KGF; N. Gajendra (23) and K.S. Naveen (27).

Nithyananda was found dead under suspicious circumstances on June 29. Susheela told family members and Police that he had suffered a heart attack.

However, the deceased’s brother noticed ligature marks on Nithyananda’s neck and alerted the Police. Based on his complaint, Kuvempunagar Police registered a case and launched an investigation using both physical and technical evidence collected from the scene.

Sub-Inspector V. Madan Kumar and his team detained Susheela for questioning. Police said she confessed during interrogation that her husband frequently returned home drunk and allegedly subjected her to physical and mental harassment.

Unable to bear the alleged abuse, she is said to have conspired with her brother Harish and his associate Chandan to eliminate him. On the night of June 28, the trio allegedly brought five men from Kolar to Mysuru. Nithyananda was allegedly strangled to death inside the house with their help.

Based on her confession and evidence gathered during investigation, the Police arrested all.

Investigation was carried out under the guidance of DCP (Law & Order) Dr. Harsha Piyamvada and supervision of KR ACP K.C. Prakash. Team comprised Kuvempunagar Police Inspector (in-charge) C.E. Rohith, SI Madan, Police personnel Vasanth & Dhanuja, Crime Division staff V. Anand, K. Srinath, K.J. Suresh and D.S. Doddegowda.
