About the books
‘Rooted in Mysuru’ is a resource directory for creating ecological gardens in the city, connecting gardeners with local people, resources and places.
‘Hithala Suthalu,’ a 248-page Kannada handbook brings together the knowledge and practice of the women forest-home gardeners of the Malnad.
‘Grow a Garden’ (4th edition) is a compact, illustrated guide to sowing, growing and harvesting, making gardening accessible to everyone.
The book launch will be followed by a panel discussion on ‘Ecology, Food and the Future of our Cities’ with Anusha Hegde, Harshita Mahendra and Nikita Rao — three young women farmers, writers, artists and naturalists.
The evening will also feature Dr. T.R. Shankar Raman, whose work in ecological restoration in Valparai, Tamil Nadu, has brought him close to forests, trees and the communities who live alongside them. He will share a few reflections on his most recent books, ‘The Trees of my Country: A Natural History of India in 50 Trees’ and ‘The Wild Heart of India,’ followed by a book signing.
Books Loka and Prakriti will host stalls with books and garden products at the venue.
