Workshop on ‘Road Safety’ held
Mysuru: “The Law does not discriminate between a government official, private person and organisations. It is the same for everyone,” said Traffic ACP K.N. Madaiah.
He was reacting to a question about what action would the Traffic Police take against KSRTC bus drivers who flout the road rules regularly, at an one-day interaction session organised by the Mysuru City Traffic Police for the vehicle drivers of school and college students at J.K. Grounds auditorium here yesterday.
The law does not differentiate between the rich and the poor, a high-ranking official or an ordinary man on the street. Reiterating that action had been taken against KSRTC bus drivers, Madaiah said that sufficient notices had been served on them. In fact a bus driver who was driving the Mysuru-Chamarajanagar route (KA-10 F-198) had been fined for violating traffic rules.
Added to this, the Driving Licenses of many, who had violated traffic rules, had been suspended and even cancelled, he said.
Everyone should strictly follow traffic rules and compulsorily wear seat belts. Since it is dangerous to run autorickshaws and cabs fitted with LPG cylinders, it should be removed. Everyone driving on Ring Roads should be extra cautious and strictly follow traffic rules. At signal lights, one should stop the vehicles behind Zebra Crossing and only when the lights turn green should one move forward. Children should be carried on two-wheelers very carefully and everyone should be well informed about traffic rules.
Therma Sensor: In most of the prominent places in the city, most modern electronic signal lights have been installed. In another month, it will also have therma sensors. This new addition will help faster movement of traffic as the signal lights automatically turn green or red depending on the flow of traffic, said Madaiah.
Devaraja Traffic Inspector Sandesh Kumar, KR Divison’s Manjunath, VV Puram Division’s Vivek, NR Division’s Jayakumar, SI Puttaswamy, Traffic Wardens, Traffic Police Constables and school and college student drivers participated in the interaction.
