Lawyer loses Rs. 97,000 to online fraudsters

Mysore/Mysuru: Fraudsters, who sent a link to the mobile phone of a city lawyer, have withdrawn a total of Rs. 97,000 from the lawyer’s bank account.

The lawyer, who lost money, is Aleem Shariff of Shanthinagar. Shariff, who was searching for the phone number of a courier company on the internet, came across the mobile phone number 63938-09564 and called the number.

After speaking with the person on the other side, the person sent a link to the mobile phone of the lawyer and when he (lawyer) clicked on the link, Rs. 97,000 was withdrawn in stages from the lawyer’s bank account. Cyber, Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
