Leaders complain to City Police Chief against activist Puneeth Kerehalli

He had made abusive remarks against NR MLA Tanveer Sait during his recent visit to city, the leaders alleged in the complaint

Mysuru: A 15-member delegation of prominent leaders, have submitted a complaint to City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar yesterday, demanding action against Hindu activist Puneeth Kerehalli, for making provocative and communally sensitive remarks.  DCP (Law and Order) Dr. Harsha Priyamvada and DCP (Crime and Traffic) K.S. Sundar Raj were also present.

In their complaint, the leaders have alleged that Kerehalli, while speaking to media persons during his visit to the city on Aug. 25, had made abusive comments against Narasimharaja (NR) MLA Tanveer Sait and the Police. He had accused Sait of threatening a Police officer with a transfer, if he took any action against stalls selling beef. Such remarks targeting an elected representative belonging to a particular community, may take a communal colour, they added.

The leaders also brought to the notice of Police Commissioner that, over 15 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been already filed against Kerehalli, at various Police Stations across the State.

Showkath Pasha, Rajani Annaiah, Ayaz Pasha alias Pandu, Syed Hazarathulla, Pradeep Chandra and G.S. Sathyaraj, Congress leaders G.N. Manjunath, Abrar Mohammed, Akmal Pasha, C. Sridhar, Iqbal and others were present.

City Congress Committee

City Congress Committee has lodged a separate complaint with DCP (Law and Order) Dr. Harsha Priyamvada against Hindu activist Puneeth Kerehalli for making derogatory comments against Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait.

 City Congress spokesman Rajesh handed over the complaint copy, in which he has stated that, the remarks made against Sait by Kerehalli, while speaking to media persons has gone viral on social media. The comments are made without verifying the facts, he added.

Congress leaders Madegowda, Raheem, Syed Farooq, Salman Parsi, Dr. Harshavardhan, Ramu, Sadiq, Nanjundaswamy and others were present.
