April 11, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: The District Unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat had organised a special lecture programme at the Arya Ediga Association’s Women’s Student Hostel in Krishnamurthypuram recently.

The programme featured lectures on the life and contributions of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya (MV) and the significance of Vachana literature.

Delivering a lecture on ‘The Contributions of Sir MV’, Dr. Jamuna Rani Mirle described Sir MV as a “living embodiment of discipline and punctuality.”

She said Sir MV was not only a renowned engineer and former Dewan of Mysore but also a visionary who laid the foundation for modern development in the State of Mysore. His century-long life journey continues to inspire younger generations, particularly his contributions to science and technology for national development, she added.

In another session, Prof. K.R. Preemaleela spoke on the ‘Contributions of Vachanakaras.’ She said the values embedded in Vachana literature remain relevant even today and urged students to imbibe the ethics and ideals of the Vachanakaras in their daily lives.

Noted theatre artiste Rajashekhar Kadamba inaugurated the programme. Presiding over the event, Maddikere Gopal, President of the District Unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, spoke about the Parishat’s efforts to promote both scientific thinking and Kannada literary heritage.

Prof. Mallanna, Ananth and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
