Mysuru: Activists of CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) and SUCI, under the banner of Left Parties Joint Action Committee, staged a demonstration in front of the District Court Complex on Wednesday against the National Register of Citizens (NRC), that has stripped millions of people of their Indian Citizenship in Assam.

Claiming that many genuine people were excluded from the list, with even the grandson of former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed not featuring in the NRC, the protesters accused the ruling party in Assam of utilizing the NRC as a political tool.

SUCI leaders B. Ravi, CPI leader H.R. Seshadri,CPI(M) leader K. Basavaraj, CPI(ML) leader Chowdalli Shivaiah, activists Prof. Shabbir Mustafa, Rati Rao, Umadevi and Seema took part.
