Leopard trapped in Hunsur

June 22, 2018

Hunsur: A leopard, which had created panic at Hallikoppal village, Gavadagere hobli in Hunsur taluk, was trapped by the Forest Department personnel in a cage this morning.

The leopard had killed a cow in the village yesterday and had fled from the spot. Soon, the Forest Department personnel, who arrived at the spot, placed a cage and had kept the carcass of the inside it to lure the leopard.

Today morning, villagers, who went near the cage were shocked to see the leopard trapped inside and informed the Forest Department officials who arrived at the spot to take the leopard. But the officials were prevented by the villagers from doing so. The villagers said that there was one more leopard which they had sighted and demanded the Forest officials to capture it and take them together.

Hunsur Rural Police, who rushed to the spot, dispersed the crowd and allowed the Forest staff to shift the leopard to Nagarahole Reserve Forest where it was released later. The Forest staff have placed another cage to trap the other leopard.
