Leopard trapped near T. Narasipur

Mysuru :  A 7 to 8-year-old leopard was trapped at a mulberry farm at Tummalla village near T. Narasipur early this morning.

It is learnt that the leopard which was found prowling in the village since about 15 days had killed dogs, sheep and cattle at the village following which the villagers had lodged a complaint with the Forest Department.

Following the complaint by the villagers, the Forest Department officials had placed a cage with a dog as bait in the mulberry farm of one Rajashekar about 10 days ago. Today early morning, the leopard walked into the cage and  was trapped.

As the news of the leopard being trapped spread, villagers thronged the spot to have a glimpse of the leopard inside  the cage. The Forest Department officials, who shifted the leopard in their vehicle, later released it into Bandipur Forest near H.D. Kote. RFO S. Girish, DRFO S.M. Manjunath, Guards M. Nagaraju and N. Chethan, Forest Watcher Chandrappa and others were present.
