Lethal Attack on Tanveer Sait: SDPI urges for impartial probe

Mysuru: Following allegations about the involvement of the party in the murderous assault on MLA Tanveer Sait, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the murder bid on 

Tanveer Sait.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, SDPI National President Ilyas Mohammed Tumbe said that there was a conspiracy to tarnish the name of the party and hence, urged the Police for a fair and impartial probe besides clarifying that SDPI has nothing to do with the attack on the MLA.

Continuing, he said that five persons are in judicial custody and their family members and their lawyer were not allowed to meet them which is against the law, the lawyer has told the jail authorities to which the jail authorities have said: “We are under tremendous pressure, try to understand us.” Tumbe demanded the jail authorities to disclose the name of those who were pressurising them.

He said that the Police were under tremendous pressure to reach into the core of the conspiracy behind the attack and till then nobody should spread rumours about SDPI besides stating that no innocents be framed in the case.

Tumbe said that the Police should not succumb to any pressure and warned of ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation if rumours about SDPI’s involvement are spread.

SDPI State Secretary Kumaraswamy, State Committee Member Ahmed Khan and SDPI State General Secretary Abdul Majeed were present during the press meet.
