Mysuru: Higher Education Minister Dr. M.C. Sudhakar has sung paeans of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Wednesday, drawing an analogy with the invaluable contributions of Mysore Maharajas to the erstwhile Mysore State during the pre-independence era and Siddaramaiah.
Like the Maharajas of Mysore, whose names remain eternal, the name of Siddaramaiah will remain forever, in this part of Mysuru, he said.
Dr. Sudhakar said, over a century-old Maharani’s Science College building and the hostel building were in a dilapidated condition. A part of the college building has collapsed, but repairing the same is not possible. During the inspection, it emerged that, there was no scope for taking up immediate repair works, as it was classified as a heritage structure. Eventually, the decision on constructing the new building on heritage lines was taken in consultation with the District Heritage Committee, said Dr. Sudhakar.
By laying foundation stone for the construction of extended hostel building to accommodate 600 students of Maharani’s Women’s Commerce and Management College, Paduvarahalli, new hostel building to accommodate 1,400 students of Maharani’s Arts and Science College and new building for Maharani’s Science College, Siddaramaiah has made significant contributions towards the field of education in Mysuru. This is in addition to his contributions made during his first stint as the Chief Minister between 2013 and 2018, said Dr. Sudhakar.
MLA K.M. Shivalinge Gowda also heaped praises on Siddaramaiah, saying that the latter is following in the footsteps of his predecessor late D. Devaraj Urs, the former Chief Minister.
