Speaking after inaugurating the event, scion of the erstwhile Mysuru Royal Family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, highlighted the role of Lions Club in providing relief to victims of natural disasters.

He called upon the people to donate liberally to flood victims of the State, which is witnessing the worst floods in over four decades.

Dr.C.N. Manjunath, Director, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, Bengaluru and Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, Managing Trustee of Adamya Chetana Foundation, Bengaluru were conferred Seva Rathna Award on the occasion.

Announcing that the Jayadeva Hospital Staff at Mysuru and Bengaluru have donated a day’s salary of Rs. 28 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, he observed that times have not changed and only the people have changed.

Pointing out that attitude and expectations have changed with the passage of time, Dr. Manjunath regretted that the time has come now when people have to learn about life sustenance by reading books, rather than learning by experience.

Noting that simplicity is more important than richness, he rued that at a time when we have launched Chandrayaan-II, we are not aware of the people living in our neighbourhoods.

Observing that making life easier for the common man is more important than computerisation or modernisation, he underlined the need to be more humanistic while also acquiring knowledge.

Stressing that the people must not have arrogance, jealousy and distrust in order to march ahead in life, Dr. Manjunath said that changing lifestyles was making a serious impact on the health of individuals these days.

Calling upon the people to be always wary of heart attack, BP, paralysis, diabetes, stroke and pub-culture, he advised the people to dump junk foods and eat more fruits and vegetable for maintaining a healthy life.
