Mysuru: Noted actor Anirudh Jatkar said that Lions International is widely known for its services and social activities. He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Saartha’, the Second Annual District Convention of Lions International District 317G at KSOU Convocation Hall in Mukthagangothri campus here yesterday.
Pointing out that his parents too were engaged with Lions International and Rotary, Anirudh said that as such, he knows a lot about these service organisations.
“I have a strong desire to do something for Mysuru as the city has a special place for our family. As part of it, I want to plant saplings on the road divider in front of Kings Kourt Hotel on JLB Road, for which the MCC has granted its approval. The activity will begin in association with Lions International before the start of monsoon,” he said.
Stating that Lions International was established by an American decades ago, he said now the Organisation is serving entire India. Just as it is serving at the International-level, the Lions is also widely engaged in responding to local issues.
Lions District Governor Ln. N. Subramanya said that Lions International is actively involved in creating awareness on deadly diseases like Cancer and Diabetes, which are haunting mankind the world over.
Noting that Diabetes is haunting the current generation, he said it is alarming to note that an increasing number of people are catching up the Disease. In this backdrop, there is an urgent need for doing more on creating widespread public awareness on environmental conservation, Cancer prevention, Diabetes control etc., and building a hunger-free society, he added.
