Mysuru, Sept.4- Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime — aligning with the said proverb, Lions Club of Mysore West (LCMW) provides free vocational training in Tailoring, Beauty Culture, Ayurvedic massage, bag-making, house-keeping and ironing to the underprivileged section of society.
During the three-month training in tailoring which was conducted in association with Queens School of Design, Mysuru, a batch of eleven students learnt garment technology with specialisation in basic sewing techniques.
The course completion certificates were distributed to the beneficiaries of the programme by Club President Dr. Mahesh Rao and the members of the Club at a valedictory function held at the premises of the Lions Club of Mysore West recently.
“This is a wonderful initiative by the ladies of our Club. We plan to make it a permanent project and help as many people as possible in providing the means to become financially independent. This project is in line with the Club’s motto We Serve,” said Dr. Mahesh Rao.
On the occasion, the members of the Club and the Principal of Queens School of Design M.S. Asha Kumari, Faculty Member M. Smitha and the families of beneficiaries were present.
The Club will also assist the beneficiaries find placement and start their own businesses.
