Three arrested for killing friend in an inebriated condition

Hunsur, Sept.4 (KK,HSM&KS)- Friends killing a friend in an inebriated condition has come to light lately and the Police have arrested three youths in this connection.

While the deceased is Lokesh (27), a resident of Shivajyothi Nagar in Hunsur, the arrested youths are 24-year-old Ajay, 21-year-old Harish and 20-year-old Kiran, all from Shivajyothi Nagar.

Details: On Sunday night, Lokesh, along with Ajay, Kiran, Harish and Mahesh, consumed alcohol near Rakasamma Temple and were consuming food in an inebriated condition when Ajay asked Lokesh to fetch water.

When Lokesh refused, Ajay began to push around Lokesh during which he (Lokesh) fell down. Lokesh, who managed to get up accidentally stepped on the food which was being consumed by Harish and irked over this, Harish hit Lokesh with a stone, resulting in Lokesh collapsing on the ground, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, when Mahesh came forward to rescue Lokesh, he was prevented by Kiran from doing so resulting in Lokesh, who was seriously injured, breathing his last on the spot.

But the trio did not inform the matter to Lokesh’s family and the Police had registered a case of natural death and only after the post-mortem was conducted the reason for Lokesh’s death came to light. Meanwhile, Mahesh informed about the incident to Lokesh’s brother Ramesh after two days, who in turn lodged a complaint at Hunsur Police Station. Based on the complaint, the Police arrested Ajay, Kiran and Harish and during interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed to the crime.

The Police, who registered a case under IPC Sections 302, 201 and 34 against the accused, produced them before a Court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

ASP Sneha, Dy. SP Sundar Raj, Circle Inspector Poovaiah visited the spot. ASI Mahesh and staff Jagadish and Yogesh conducted mahazar.
