Literary Fest: LDA

July 16, 2017

Sir,

This refers to the recent write-ups in SOM regarding the Mysuru Literary Festival held in a grand manner in the Senate Bhavan of Gangothri. Alluding to my friend K. Vijaya Kumar’s request to readers of SOM seeking any further information on the same subject, I know of the existence of one “Mysore Literary and Dramatic Association” situated in a corner room on the first floor of the Town Hall (Rangacharlu Memorial Hall).

Many decades ago a few college teachers and some lawyers used to assemble there frequently and gloss over the literary and dramatic activities of the city. They also used to put up and enact a few drama shows in the Town Hall auditorium below.

My father, late M. Lakshminarayana Rao, a leading advocate of the day, used to take part in the dramas once in a while. This was more than sixty-seventy years ago and I do not know what happened later to that Association, short named as LDA.
