Loan to travel abroad: Graduate cheated of Rs. 1.37 lakh

Madikeri: A 21-year-old B.Com graduate, who was promised loan for him to travel abroad to seek job, has been reportedly cheated to the tune of Rs. 1.37 lakh.

The graduate, who was cheated is M.S. Puneet, a resident of Cherangala village in Madikeri taluk. Puneet, who wanted to go abroad to look for a job was searching for loan providers on Google, when he came across a link of a company by name ‘Pratibha Loan Company.’ After he clicked on the link, Puneet got a call from mobile number 90386-76917 and the person who spoke to Puneet in Hindi, collected all documents through WhatsApp to provide loan. But from Aug. 3 to 8, citing various reasons, the fraudster got a total of Rs. 1,37,653 transferred from Puneet via Google Pay. When the fraudster began to call frequently asking Puneet to transfer money, Puneet, who felt something fishy, lodged a complaint at Bhagamandala Police Station.
