As per the directions of Karnataka Legal Services Authority, the Mysuru District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) will be conducting a LokAdalat in city and at all taluks of the district on Dec. 19. There are a total of 1,07,694 cases pending in Courts, out of which 82,456 cases can be settled through mediation. The upcoming LokAdalat on Dec. 19 is expected to take up 13,496 such cases.
The LokAdalat provides a pre-litigative mechanism for conciliation and settlement of cases relating to public utilities, services like Transport and Postal. It is also a platform for settling Motor Vehicle Accident Claims and compensation, Compoundable criminal cases, Cheque bounce cases and family Court matters (except divorce).There is no Court fee in LokAdalat and the parties can take part directly. The DLSA has requested parties in the pre-litigative cases to take part in the LokAdalat for resolution of disputes.
