Mysuru: Karnataka Lokayukta Chief Justice P. Vishwanatha Shetty held a closed-door meeting with his Department Officials at the Office of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police on Dewan’s Road in city this morning. The Lokayukta held the meeting prior attending Basava Jayanti celebrations at Kalamandira in city.
Speaking to press persons on the occasion, he said that he is holding this review meeting to discuss the progress of all pending cases, inspections done by his Department officials and cases attended by them.
He said that his prime focus was to redress the problems of the common people with respect to maladministration. The Lokayukta will file suo moto cases if lapses are found in the administration, he added.
When asked about the formation of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and perceived attempts to weaken the Lokayukta by the State Government, Shetty refused to comment on this and said that Lokayukta is discharging its duties as per its jurisdiction.
Lokayukta SP K.N. Madaiah, Dy.SP Arun Nagegowda, Inspectors Abdul Kareem Rowther, M. Jayratna, C.B. Rupashri and others attended the meeting.
