Lorry owners appeal Transport Minister for help

July 8, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru District Lorry Owners Federation has appealed Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Laxman Savadi to come to the help of truckers by announcing some sops, in the wake of huge losses due to COVID-induced lockdown.

Federation  President B. Kodandaramu presented a memorandum in this regard to the Minister, who had come for the inauguration of the Automated Vehicle Inspection and Certification Centre near the RTO (East) office here Tuesday.

The Federation also appealed  Savadi not to commission the centre that operates with the help of a technology based new system, with immediate effect, as it would be very difficult for the vehicles to get certificates with the new specifications and criteria, especially at a time when most of the commercial vehicles have stopped running due to lockdown.

The District Tourist Bus Owners Association too submitted a memorandum to the Minister seeking a six-month tax waiver for tourist buses in the wake of COVID crisis.

Pointing out that drivers and  other staff of tourist vehicles are in deep distress, the Association demanded a special package for them.
