Assuming that their parents were opposing their marriage, Satish and Varalakshmi, who came to city on Nov. 30 evening, took a room on rent at a lodge on Ashoka Road. They had told the lodge manager that they were newly-wed and had come to Mysuru on some work.
At about 8 pm, Satish, who had gone out returned to the lodge along with food. But as the two did not come out of the room even after 11 am the next day, the lodge staff peeped through the window only to see Satish hanging and Varalakshmi lying lifeless on the bed. Varalakshmi is said to have consumed poison.
Soon, the lodge staff informed Mandi Police, who rushed to the spot and got the door opened using the duplicate key. On inspecting the room, the Police found a death note, which read, “We have decided to end our lives as our family members opposed our love.”
