Srirangapatna: Depressed over the death of the girl he was in love, a youth committed suicide by immolating himself near her grave in the taluk.
The deceased youth is Chandan (21), a resident of Balamuri Road at Belagola village in the taluk.
It is learnt that the girl had reportedly ended her life three days ago. Deeply saddened and depressed over her death, Chandan, who went on his scooter to the place where the last rites of the girl were conducted, poured petrol on him and set himself ablaze. Before committing suicide, Chandan, has written a death note stating that he was unable to live without her and has held himself responsible for his death.
Meanwhile, public who saw the body of Chandan informed the Police. KRS Sub-Inspector Lingaraju, Circle Inspector Yogesh and staff visited the spot and have seized the mobile phone and the two-wheeler that were found at the spot. Based on the complaint from Chandan’s relative, the Police have registered a case and are investigating.
