Machamada Raju Machaiah (83), an ex-serviceman and a native of Nittur village, Balale in Ponnampet taluk of Kodagu district, passed away at a private hospital in Mysuru this morning.

A bachelor, he leaves behind a host of relatives and friends.

Last rites were held at the foot of Chamundi Hill in city this afternoon, according to family sources.
