Madigas demand acceptance of A.J. Sadashiva Commission Report

Mysuru: Hundreds of Madiga community members under the joint banner of Samajika Nyayapara Vedike and Madiga Sanghatanegala Okkoota took out a protest rally in the city on Tuesday, demanding acceptance of Justice A.J. Sadashiva Commission Report.

The protesters who commenced the rally from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple had planned to march to the CM’s residence at Ramakrishnanagar in city to lay siege. But the rallyists were stopped at Vijaya Bank Circle by the Police when a verbal duel broke out between the rallyists and the Police.

The Police had given permission to take out the rally only till the DC’s office, it is learnt.

Even as the rallyists were stopped at Vijaya Bank Circle by the Police, an official at the CM’s residence came to the spot and received a memorandum from the protesting Madiga community members, it is learnt.

Addressing the rallyists, Madiga community leader Mandakrishna Madiga said that Justice Sadashiva Commission in its report submitted to the Government on June 14, 2012 had recommended inner reservation to Madigas based on population. But the Government had ignored the report, he said and urged the Govt. to provide inner reservation to the community and thus uphold the Constitutional aspirations.
