Madikeri Doctor suspended for graft

Madikeri: A Doctor at Kodagu District Hospital in  Madikeri has been suspended for accepting bribe from a patient for treating COVID. Soon as a video showing Dr. Shivakumar, a Doctor at Kodagu District Hospital accepting bribe from a patient went viral, Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Charulatha Somal suspended him on charges of graft.

An elderly  man from  Siddapura , who was infected with COVID, got admitted to District COVID Hospital at Madikeri a couple of days ago. Dr. Shivakumar is said to have demanded a bribe of Rs.5,000 for good treatment, following which his relatives gave Rs.4,500 to him and promised to pay the balance Rs. 500 after treatment. 

The acceptance of bribe by Dr. Shivakumar was video recorded by the relatives , which went viral later on. Deputy Commissioner Charulatha Somal taking serious note of the video, ordered suspension of Dr. Shivakumar and an enquiry on Wednesday.
