Mahila Empowerment Party to contest in Karnataka

National President Dr. Nowhera Shaik promises to protect interest of all communities; seeks people’s mandate

Mysuru: It looks like many new parties are entering the fray ahead of the State Assembly elections. After actor Upendra’s Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janata Party (KPJP), former Dy. SP Anupama Shenoy’s  Bharatiya Janashakthi Congress (BJC) and Kolar MLA Varthur Prakash’s Namma Congress, the latest political outfit is the All India Mahila Empowerment Party (AIMEP). This apart there are the regular parties like Congress, BJP and JD(S).

AIMEP National President Dr. Nowhera Shaik said that her party will contest the elections and is confident of playing a major role in the formation of next Government.

She was speaking after inaugurating a public meeting organised by AIMEP near the Al Badar Circle Grounds in Rajivnagar, here yesterday. She said that the present political parties are dividing the nation by trading charges against one another. They are trying to create dissent among religious groups appealing to people’s emotions.

The people are fed up with all the parties after giving them a chance. At such a time, they are waiting for a party that respects the Constitution and treats every caste, religion, community equally. “Our party is going to contest in all the constituencies and seek people’s blessings,” said Dr. Shaik.

All the parties are ignoring women. No party has made effort to give 50 per cent of the tickets to women and empower them politically. Women who are the backbone of families are suffering as they have become anaemic. Even though there is problem of food, none is talking about hunger and food security, she alleged.

The Budget papers look really thick when they are presented and the government talks of spending lakhs of crores of rupees. However, it has not been able to provide even basic necessities like water to the people. The poor families continue to live in huts and slums, she said.

The Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Jains, Parsis, Sikhs and others should all be able to live harmoniously under the Constitution. The regional imbalance must go. Hence, public must elect the right persons and the party. People should support AIMEP which has Diamond as its symbol, she said.

AIMEP District President Sharief, City Unit President Mangala Gowri, leaders Sunitha, Mandya’s Sai Mandir Dharmadhikari Bhaskar Rao and others were present.

Dr. Shaik comes in chariot: All India Mahila Empowerment Party President Dr.Nowhera Shaik was welcomed near the Toll Gate on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road and brought on a chariot in a procession. The chariot passed through LIC Circle, Fountain Circle, St. Philomena Church, main roads in Udayagiri and reached the Al Badar Masjid Grounds in Rajivnagar. Hailing from Tirupati, she is a business tycoon and a human rights activist. Dr. Shaik is the founder and CEO of Heera Group and has business interests in gold, jewellery, real estate, electronics, granite and textiles. She is involved in social service that includes providing free education and medical service.
