As part of International Women’s Day, nine women achievers were conferred ‘Mahila Ratna-2017’ award at a programme organised by Prajnavanta Nagarikara Vedike at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city yesterday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Mata Basavanjali of Basava Kendra, Mysuru, explained the various roles of a woman as a mother, sister and wife in a family.
Expressing happiness about the achievements of women in almost all fields, she said that women play a key role in taking forward the society in an organised manner.
Pointing out that women are no less talented, she stressed the need for identifying talent among them and encourage them for achieving big.
Dr. Lakshmi (Health Service), Rani Prabha (Social Service), Savitha (Journalism), Sundari (Police Department), Manjula (Education), Sumathi (Pourakarmika woman), Geetha (Sports), Malliga (Nursing) and Susheelamma (House Keeping) were conferred Mahila Ratna-2017 awards on the occasion. Social worker K. Raghuram presided.
Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, ZAK Chairperson Mallige Veeresh, City and District Brahmin Association President D.T. Prakash, Corporator M.V. Ramprasad, former Corporator M.D. Parthasarathy and others were present.
