Mysore/Mysuru: Maj. Jerry Blaize of the Madras Regiment, 25 Rashtriya Rifles, has been nominated for the Gallantry Award — Mention in Dispatches (MiD) for his exceptional bravery and leadership during Operation Sindoor. He is the son of Col. Richard Blaize (27 MADRAS) and Lt. Col. R. Vijayalakshmi (MNS).
Maj. Jerry is married to Capt. Supreetha, daughter of the retd. Sub Inspector Thirumalesh Jetty and Nirmala couple, residents of Police Layout in city. Both Maj Jerry and Capt. Supreetha had made headlines by becoming the first Indian Army Couple to participate in the 75th Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path in New Delhi on Jan. 26 last year.On May 9, 2025, while courageously leading his troops in the Poonch–Rajouri sector, J&K, Maj. Jerry sustained multiple injuries from enemy RPG splinters during intense shelling when in direct contact with the adversary during his COB deployment. He was immediately heli-lifted to Command Hospital (Northern Command) Udhampur, where critical surgeries were performed. Nine splinters were removed from his left forearm, which had suffered multiple fractures. Deep splinters embedded in his thigh were removed in a subsequent surgery and a titanium plate was inserted. Maj. Jerry has now made a complete recovery and stands as a shining example of courage and unwavering commitment to the nation.
