Sir,
I wish to draw urgent attention to the worsening parking situation near the State Bank of India in Gokulam 3rd Stage, Mysuru.
What was once a fairly navigable stretch has now become chaotic and unsafe due to indiscriminate parking by car owners on both sides of the road.
With vehicles occupying almost the entire carriageway, there is barely any space left for traffic movement. This has led to frequent bottlenecks and traffic snarls, while also posing a risk to pedestrians, cyclists and two-wheeler riders. Schoolchildren, elderly residents and daily commuters are among the worst affected.
Despite repeated complaints from residents and regular users of the road, there has been little visible action from the Traffic Police. Residents say the lack of enforcement is worrying and fear that it could lead to accidents if the situation continues.
They have urged the authorities to immediately enforce a strict no-parking rule along the stretch, step up traffic monitoring and penalise violators.
Residents have stressed that road safety must be treated as a priority and have called for prompt action in the interest of public safety.
