Mysuru: With Makara Sankranti tomorrow, a heavy rush was seen at Devaraja and other markets in city this morning with people eager to buy sugarcane stalks, fruits, vegetables, flowers and the most essential item yellu-bella (a mixture of jaggery, copra, roasted gram and peanuts).

However, there was not much of a rise in price of vegetables and fruits. There was a marginal increase in the rate of flowers with jasmine selling at Rs. 60 per standard length, Kanakambara at Rs. 50, Kakada at Rs. 40, Kanagale at Rs. 40 and Chrysanthamum (Sevanthige) at Rs. 50. Sugarcane stalks have been heaped at the market and at important road junctions with each stalk selling at Rs. 20 to 30. A ready mix of yellu-bella, the composite of all ingredients was being sold at Rs. 150 a kg.
