Mysuru-lad Suraj R. Prabodh, representing India in the Malaysia F1 Futures $15,000 Men’s ITF Tennis Tournament, won his men’s singles first round match and entered the pre-quarterfinals at Kuching, Malaysia, yesterday.

Suraj beat Japan’s Ken Onishi 6-3, 6-4 to enter the pre-quarter-finals.

In the pre-quarterfinals Suraj will meet Uzbekistan’s Jurabek Karimov. Earlier, in the qualifying round, Suraj had scored wins over Liang Yu Richard Lin (Taipei) 6-6 (retd.) and over Japan’s Daisuke Sumizawa 6-1, 6-3 to enter the main draw in the men’s singles event.
