Malladi Brothers to perform at RAAGA tomorrow

January 17, 2020

Raaga’s first event of the decade, the annual “Lalitha V. Murthy Memorial Concert” features the Malladi Brothers for a scintillating Karnatak vocal duet on Saturday, the 18th at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, JLB Road at 6 pm. This is a tribute to the memory of the late wife of Kalaseva Rathna K.V. Murthy, who, along with her husband, had been benevolent hosts to many artistes of repute.

Vid. Malladi Sreeramprasad and Vid. Malladi Ravikumar, popularly known as the “Malladi Brothers” hail from a family of musicians. They were initiated into music  by their grandfather, a great harikatha exponent, late Malladi Ramamurthy and their father Malladi Suri Babu, a senior Vidwan himself. They were later under the tutelage of “Sangeetha Kalanidhi” Nedunuri Krishna Murthy and Padma Bhushan Dr. Sripada Pinakapani.

The prestigious awards from All India Radio, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, The Music Academy (Chennai) etc., speaks volumes about their prowess and the duo have performed all over the world, enthralling the audience everywhere.

On Saturday, they are accompanied by Vid. Dr. Nishanth Chandran on the violin, Vid. Tumakuru B. Ravishankar on the mridanga and Vid. Sunaad Anoor on the khanjira.

A talk on Healthy Living through Ayurveda and Yoga, from 5 pm to 6 pm by Dr. N.V. Krishnamurthy, Director, Prajna Kuteera Ayurveda Centre, precedes the concert.

This programme is sponsored by art patron K.V. Murthy. For details contact Mob: 82777-33410 or Ph: 0821-2542069.
