Hunsur: A woman, who was allegedly being harassed and threatened by her lover, reportedly ended her life by consuming pesticide at Lakkanakoppal village in Gavadagere hobli of Hunsur taluk on Sept. 21.

The deceased is M.R. Sindhu (28), wife of Srikanth of Lakkanakoppal village.

Following Sindhu’s death, Srikanth has lodged a complaint against Sindhu’s lover Vikas, his father Kumar and mother Vasantha at Bilikere Police Station. The Police have arrested Vikas.

Details: Sindhu, a native of Mavathur village in K.R. Nagar taluk was given in marriage to Srikanth eight years ago and the couple have two children. On Sept. 21, when Srikanth was working in his field, Sindhu, who called him over the phone at about 12.40 pm, told him that she was not keeping well and asked him to come home immediately.

Srikanth, who rushed home, saw Sindhu very tired and she informed her husband that she had consumed pesticide. With the help from neighbours, Srikanth immediately shifted her to K.R. Nagar General Hospital. While being taken to the Hospital, Sindhu reportedly informed her husband that Vikas was responsible for her present condition.

After first-aid was provided at K.R. Nagar General Hospital, Sindhu was being shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru but she succumbed midway. Doctors who examined Sindhu at K.R. Hospital confirmed her death, Srikanth has stated in his complaint.

Holding Vikas and his parents responsible for Sindhu’s death, Srikanth in his complaint has stated that Vikas had illicit relationship with his wife Sindhu and he had advised Vikas to refrain from keeping relationship with his wife many times but it was of no use. With encouragement from his parents, Vikas used to harass Sindhu over the phone, Srikanth said and added that when he checked Sindhu’s phone after her death, Vikas’ phone number was saved in the name of Kavya and there were voice and video calls made to Sindhu’s phone before her death.

Srikanth has further stated in the complaint that Vikas used to threaten Sindhu of uploading Sindhu’s videos in social media platforms if she did not listen to him which had depressed Sindhu, who took the extreme step.

Bilikere Police, who registered a case, have arrested Vikas and are initiating legal action.

Post-mortem was conducted at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru and the body was handed over to the family members.
