Mysore/Mysuru: A man has allegedly killed his wife for dowry at Udayagiri Police limits in city yesterday.

The deceased is Afreen Begum (22), wife of Mujeed Ahmed and residing at Shanthinagar. Afreen, who was residing at Ghousianagar, was given in marriage to Mujeed three years ago and the couple has a four-month-old son, who is now staying with his grandmother.

Yesterday, at about 4.30 pm, Mujeed is said to have strangulated Afreen to death.

Udayagiri Inspector Poonacha and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem besides registering a case.
