Man who attempted suicide succumbs

A 55-year-old man, who had consumed poison and was admitted to K.R. Hospital here on Mar. 4, breathed his last yesterday   afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Devaiah (55), son of late Sannaiah and a resident of Belkya village in Periyapatna taluk.

It is reported that Devaiah had taken loans through his wife from Sthree Shakthi Sangha, but was unable to repay the loans, forcing him to consume poison on Mar. 4 at about 1.30 pm at his house.

He was rushed to Periyapatna Government Hospital, where he was provided first aid and was later shifted to K.R. Hospital for further treatment on the same day.

Devaiah breathed his last at about 3.10 pm yesterday after failing to respond to the treatment. The body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted this morning and the body was handed over to his relatives.

Periyapatna SI Muddumahadeva has registered and is   investigating.
