Srirangapatna: Child trafficking is one of the most heinous crimes. It is all the more reprehensible when the man himself indulges in it, trying to sell his three-year-old daughter. The Police and Women & Child Protection Officers have been able to nab the person, while he was in the act of selling the child yesterday.
The heartless person is Vinod who hails from Bengaluru and his daughter’s name is Anjali. He was found trying to sell his daughter at the private bus stand in the town. Observing this, the public alerted the Police. They reached the spot, arrested Vinod, and took the child into their custody.
When Superintendent of Police Savitha subjected him to interrogation, Vinod revealed his and his daughter’s name and where he hailed from. The Child Protection Department officials, on hearing the news, reached Srirangapatna and gathered all the information.
The baby has been handed over to the Child District Protection Officers. A case has been registered in Srirangapatna Police Station limits.
Four times married
According to sources, Vinod is said to be married for four or more times and having more than 12 children. Anjali was born to third wife Ramamma and as they were unable to take care of the child, Vinod, along with his wife and friend Ramu, was trying to sell his daughter. However, this detail has not been confirmed yet. Ramamma and Ramu are absconding. Vinod has been arrested and investigation is on.
