Mysuru: A 35-year-old married man committed suicide by hanging self at an apartment on Bogadi Road near Dasanakoppal here last night.

The deceased has been identified as Pradeep, son of JD(S) leader Belavadi Shivamurthy and former Mysuru Zilla Panchayat President Bhagya Shivamurthy and a resident of Belavadi.

Pradeep, who owned a petrol bunk near the apartment on Bogadi Road, was residing at Belavadi with his parents, wife and children. He was also pursuing his final year LLB course through correspondence. The reason for him to take the extreme step is yet to be known.

Yelwal Police, who rushed to the apartment, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary. Post-mortem was conducted this morning and the body was handed over to the family members.

Yelwal Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
