Accused had stabbed the neighbour who came to stop the fight with his wife

Mysore/Mysuru: City’s Principal District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 for murdering a woman, who had come to stop the fight between the man and his wife.

The accused, who was sentenced, is Alvin, a resident of Veeranagere in city. On Oct. 17, 2020, Alvin was fighting with his wife Sonu, when their neighbour 56-year-old Mahadevamma came forward to stop the fight during which Alvin stabbed her, resulting in her death.

The then Lashkar Inspector Suresh Kumar, who had registered a case in this regard, conducted an operation along with Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Siddaraju and staff Lingaraju, Sathya, Mahesh and others and arrested Alvin, who had gone absconding after committing the crime. After conducting a thorough investigation, Inspector Suresh Kumar had submitted the charge-sheet to the Court.

Judge Prabhavati M. Hiremath, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides and found accused Alvin guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on Jan. 18, 2024.

Public Prosecutors H.E. Chinnappa and Ranjana Rao argued on behalf of the Government.

In 2004, Alvin was sentenced to 14 years in a murder case at NR Police limits and after coming out of jail, he had five attempt to murder cases registered against him at Alanahalli and NR Police Stations.
