Man killed, wife serious as goods vehicle hits moped

Nanjangud: A man was killed on the spot while his wife sustained serious injuries when a goods vehicle hit the moped they were riding near Tandavapura on National Highway 766 on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Chennappa (68), a resident of Chennappa Layout in the town while his seriously injured wife is Lakshmamma, who was provided first-aid at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru and later admitted to a private hospital for advanced treatment.

On Wednesday night, Chennappa and Lakshmamma were proceeding to Hosahundi village near Mysuru when the speeding goods vehicle rammed into the TVS moped near the petrol bunk close to Tandavapura at about 8.30 pm, killing Chennappa on the spot and seriously injuring Lakshmamma.

Based on the complaint from deceased Chennappa’s son, Nanjangud Traffic Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
